Blogging Nerd's Corner

Just to let you know that my blog has finally come to settle at TypePad - a paid-for blogging service.  It all began at Blogger, three months ago.  Everybody says Blogger is a really good place to get started - and it is.  It's also free.  But as your blog develops, then so do your needs - like listing your posts in different categories.  So I jumped straight into WordPress (also free) , not realising it was an Open Source programme, developed by (clever) blogging nerds across the world - and continually under development.  If you understand CSS, PHP, SQL, XHTML and other stuff, then fine.  Otherwise, you may find, for example, your sidebar continually disappearing to the bottom of the page.  Despite the advice of some very helpful people on the WordPress forums, I didn't resolve the problems and zoomed over to TypePad.  So far, so good - everything seems to work seamlessly.

Anyway, if you're thinking of starting a blog you could do worse than check out  ProBlogger's Blogging for Beginners.

Edinburgh Shortlist Act 1

If you're a theatrical blogger, here's a recommendation for Edinburgh: "Bloggers - Real Internet Diaries, at Smirnoff Underbelly, was culled from thousands of UK blogs by creator Oliver Mann. Five actors will play 11 characters in monologues that use only the bloggers' original words and feature intimate confessions from, among others, a sex chat-line operator, a nymphomaniac mum and a bisexual businessman."

It's a blast

In just two hours today 15 young people created the Creative Blast blog as part of the BBC Blast day in Norwich. The results are an eclectic blog to say the least.

As part of the BBC Blast day at Norwich Forum I will be running two Blogging for Beginners workshops for teenagers. These are on Thursday 27th July from 1.00-2.00pm and 2.30-3.30pm. One man and his blog

Blogging is contagious. No sooner do I start a blog, than it seems the whole world is doing it. No, seriously, I know I came into it a bit late on, but that hasn't stopped me from finding out as much as I can about it - so much so that now I am a blogging expert, apparently. I have been booked to run two Blogging for Beginners workshops for teenagers for BBC Blast at Norwich's Forum (otherwise known as the library with lots of computers) and am being asked to run one-to-one days with people-of-a-certain-age who suddenly find they are suffering from technology underload and need to get up to speed.

So, I thought, why not develop things a bit further and offer my blogging tutorial services through my website? Watch this space.

I'm quite new to this blogging. So I need to find out more about it. Do you blog? What do you blog about? Do you blog for an audience or for your own reasons like Molly? Hmmm.
